ABU TOPPIN
NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor
Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Abu has always been driven with a sense of purpose. He graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received a B.A. degree in Political Science. After graduating from Morehouse, Abu attended and graduated from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, MA. While at Suffolk, Abu concentrated on developing his expertise in contract analysis, negotiations and sports and entertainment law, as well as his presentation skills.
In 1996, Abu was Co-founder of Agents International Group, Inc. (AIG). As a certified contract advisor for AIG, he worked on player contracts, being involved with all aspects including endorsement opportunities, community service activities and contract negotiations. He worked diligently to secure AIG's clients the best exposure needed to maximize their position prior to and after the draft. Since then, Abu has worked with one of the largest and most experienced management companies in the sports representation industry. This company represented players such as Ray Lewis, Carson Palmer, Reggie Wayne, Ted Washington, Robert Thomas, Ahman Green, Drew Bledsoe and DeShaun Foster, to name a few.
Having worked with the larger companies, Abu noticed how players within a large client base who were either lower round selections or non-marquee players had their needs overlooked. This unfortunate circumstance is one of the many reasons Abu decided to form RSM to provide high quality representation to a smaller client base.

Reliance Sports Management (RSM) is a sports management company built to serve the needs of its clients through efficient and effective management skills. Here at RSM we strive to be a reliable source for our clients by providing contract negotiations, pre-draft training and preparation, professional guidance and life management. RSM believes it is important for the client to feel important and most of all, for the client to have the knowledge that his representatives are providing quality service.
It has been proven time and time again that bigger is not necessarily better. Since we are a smaller company, we compete with the larger sports management firms in the industry. We have witnessed how advisers from larger firms neglect clients because these firms are only concerned with servicing the higher round picks that will bring in the most money. We are concerned with providing the attention that the client deserves. As our client, you will not reach a secretary or assistant who cannot take care of your needs or concerns. You will always have access to someone who can address anything that may arise.

Pre-Draft Training
Preparing for the NFL Combine is one of the more important aspects you need to consider when choosing an agent. This is why we have made it even easier for you to choose RSM.
We have aligned ourselves with some of the best training facilities in the country. Each facility has their own unique combine training techniques and thorough and comprehensive programs that will not only prepare you physically, but will also get you ready for the mental rigors of the NFL Draft process. At no expense to you, we will send you to one of these facilities to train. We will also provide you with all necessary accommodations, including lodging, meals customized for your nutritional needs and rental car at no cost to you.
Trainers:
Although we have aligned ourselves with these trainers, we are not opposed to working with other trainers who you may have in mind. Our commitment is to provide you with training options that you feel most comfortable and that will give you the results you are looking for.
Negotiations
RSM has extensive experience negotiating rookie and veteran NFL player contracts. We will work hard in contract negotiations to maximize your contract value, including bonuses, guarantees and incentives.
It is important to ensure we have maximized your contract value and cash flow upon the signing of your first and second NFL player contracts because the average career length for a player in the NFL dramatically decreases after the second or third seasons.
Financial Planning
At RSM we believe in providing our clients with career advice and guidance that spans beyond your professional playing career. As your representatives, it is our responsibility to ensure that whenever your playing days are over, you have the financial stability you and your family deserve. To that end, we have strategically aligned ourselves with established financial planners who are NFLPA certified financial advisors.

Marketing
Our goal is to continue to maximize your public exposure and your financial earning potential. We will achieve this goal through our efforts to secure you marketing and endorsement opportunities.
We will market you to national and local companies to secure additional money that will benefit you in the short- and long-term. For example, we have been successful in negotiating merchandise agreements with Reebok and Nike, trading card deals with Playoff and Panini Trading Cards, paid autograph and corporate appearances, and paid endorsement opportunities for big brand names.
